LANSING, MI — A Genesee County woman is looking forward to a more stable life after she won a jackpot worth $1,000 a week for life.
“Winning means no more living paycheck-to-paycheck for me,” said the lucky winner who chose to remain anonymous.
The player won her jackpot by playing the Michigan Lottery’s $1,000 a Week For Life instant game. She bought her ticket at the Admiral gas station, located at 7561 Miller Road in Swartz Creek.
”I like playing the $2 scratch-off games,” said the player. “I usually buy three at a time but decided to grab a couple extra this time and it paid off! I’ve told my family that I won and feel like I’m living in a dream!”
The winner visited lottery headquarters in Lansing recently to claim her prize. She elected to receive her prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $1.1 million rather than annuity. She plans on investing her winnings.

The last players from Michigan to win a Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot is the Wolverine FLL lottery club which claimed a $1.05 billion jackpot in March. With their winnings, the group plans to give back to the community.
And while they were lucky winners, it’s smart for players to check their tickets immediately as a winner worth $1 million sold in Hartland in 2019 went unclaimed. The ticket was purchased at the Speedway in Hartland, but the winner never came forward to claim the prize. The money instead went to the state’s School Aid Fund.
