On Thursday, two teams who are trying to get back on top of their respective American League divisions get set to wrap up a four-game set down in Texas.
After the Houston Astros won the first two games against the Boston Red Sox convincingly, the two met on Wednesday night at Minute Maid Park. The game was a little more reasonable, with the Astros only winning by a final score of 2-1.
Houston now heads into Thursday with a 31-24 record, only a half-game being the AL West-leading Oakland Athletics, and are riding a four-game win streak. However, the reason for their second-place standing is because they had lost six of seven prior to this week, which included being swept by their in-state rivals, the Texas Rangers.
The BoSox are doing everything they can to hang with the best teams in baseball, as they are second in the AL East with a 32-23 record, two games behind the Tampa Bay Rays, who have the best record in the majors. Heading into the end of May, Boston was feeling like they were making up ground, as they won seven of the previous nine games before the start of this series with the Astros.
