LISCR FC closed in on the top of the Orange First Division league table on Thursday following a 4-2 win against Nimba FC at the Tusa Field in Gardnersville.
Another free-kick goal from midfielder Sheku Sheriff, and a goal apiece from Maria Karlay, Albert Karlon, and James Garway helped LISCR came from a goal down to secure the crucial.
Sheriff curved in the free-kick level the scores 1-1 before the first half break. The rest of the scorers later recorded their names on the score sheet in the second half.
Nimba FC reduced the goal deficit two after Bright Tulo converted from a spot-kick.
The win maintained LISCR to the 3rd position but moved them to 36 points from 19 games. Coach Tapha Manneh’s and his boys are now a single point behind second-placed Nimba Kwado and three points behind league leaders LPRC Oilers.
Nimba FC had already been relegated alongside Small Town FC before Thursday’s game. The game was a rescheduled game after the Football Association took the responsibility of the conflicting account of the game time.
LISCR will this weekend host second-placed Nimba Kwado at the Tusa Field in a battle for the second spot.
