PRESQUE ISLE COUNTY, MI – The Michigan DNR is seeking a qualified developer to purchase and improve a former commercial property along Lake Huron in Presque Isle County.

The 1.5-acre commercial parcel is surrounded by Presque Isle State Harbor. The building was previously leased for the operation of a restaurant, which is now closed and unoccupied.

The parcel, located at 5549 E. Grand Lake Road, was acquired in 1982 using the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund. Proceeds from the sale will go back to the Trust Fund for future land acquisition.

The sale of the commercial property will take place through a request for proposal process. The developer also will be required to purchase, either through a sale of the land or by easement, the water and sewer utility parcel located across the street.

The deadline to submit questions is July 1. The deadline for online submission is Sept. 10. The DNR can make arrangements to visit the parcel with interested bidders, according to a news release.

“The RFP process will help the DNR find a buyer who is interested in developing a business model that complements boaters, tourists and the local community and economy,” said DNR Parks and Recreation Division Chief Ron Olson.
